Bienvenido a Coles Corner, la nueva sección de Castellón Diario en la que podrás aprender y mejorar el inglés, la lengua más importante del mundo y, aunque no lo creas, una de las más sencillas de aprender. Semanalmente aparecerá un artículo relacionado con una noticia de actualidad, en un inglés de nivel intermedio (más o menos un nivel B2, equivalente al First Certificate de Cambridge). A continuación, el apartado “Test your English” pondrá a prueba tus conocimientos del idioma mediante unas preguntas sobre el artículo y una serie de frases para traducir, graduadas en tres niveles: B1 (PET de Cambridge), B2 (FCE de Cambridge) y C1 (CAE de Cambridge). COLES CORNER AND CASTELLÓN DIARIO

In every city and every town there is a place where people meet. You will not see a street sign for it and you cannot find it on a map, but it is there and it has always been there. Thousands and thousands of feet have stood there waiting for friends, relatives or lovers, in the morning or at night, in the rain or under the warm sunshine. Think about it: I am sure there is a place like that in your town…

There is a special place like that in Sheffield, England, in front of where the old Cole Brothers department store used to be a long time ago. For years, friends and lovers have met on this spot. The British singer-songwriter Richard Hawley, who played in the rock band Pulp years ago, made Coles Corner even more special some years ago, when he dedicated a song and an album to that place.

Like Coles Corner, this section of Castellón Diario is intended to be a meeting point too for those of you who are interested in learning and improving English. English is not a difficult language, but you have to make an effort if you want to learn it. If you study hard day after day (reading, writing, listening and speaking) you will get a good command of English sooner than you expected.
